The applications for citizenship of Serbia and Montenegro should be accompanied by the following documents:

- Birth or Marriage Certificate (not older than 6 months)
All documents issued in Norway (Birth and Marriage Certificates) have to be translated into the Serbian language.
CITIZENSHIP CERTIFICATE
Citizenship Certificate can be obtained at the Registry of Municipality in which the applicant has been entered in the Register of Citizens of the Republic of Serbia. The Certificate can be obtained by contacting the Registry directly, through a family member, relative, solicitor etc. who reside in Serbia. This method is much quicker than applying through the Embassy.
However, if the applicants are not able to obtain Citizenship Certificate in the above manner, they can apply through the Embassy. The applicants should fill out an application form for Citizenship Certificate and pay the consular fee. The Citizenship application is then forwarded to the appropriate Registry Office in the Republic of Serbia. The Embassy is not in the position to influence the length of time the Registry Offices might take to send back their reply.
A passport application can be considered only upon receipt of the Citizenship Certificate.
Applicants entered in the Registers of Citizens in municipalities in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohia can obtain their Citizenship Certificates from the following Registry Offices:
- for Pristina, Podujevo, Glogovac, Obilic, Lipljan and Kosovo Polje - the Office of Municipal Government in Nis (tel. 018/511-746);
